Concealed Weapons Permit Application

Concealed Weapons Permits can be downloaded on this website below. In order to obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit, the applicant must first complete a concealed weapons safety course as well as a concealed weapons permit application. A $50.00 fee for background check and processing is due at the time of application along with a copy of your WV driver’s license. No Charge for honorably discharged veterans or retired law enforcement.

• When the application process is complete, your concealed carry permit will be mailed to you via US Mail, to alleviate yourself making the trip back to the Tax Office for pick up.
• The total purchase of permit and renewal is $50.00 with or without a photo ID.
• Concealed Weapon renewals and applications are processed at the Sheriff’s Tax office, located on the first floor of the old courthouse.
• The Tax Office may be reached by telephone at (304) 586-0204.

Note About the Process

CCW initial process and renewals must appear IN PERSON at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Tax Office. Items you will need to bring with you;

1. Renewal or initial application that you downloaded from the website.
   Note: You can have the form notarized at the Tax Office.
2. If it’s the initial training application, a copy of your designated safety training certificate must be included.
   Note: Copies can be made at the Sheriff’s Tax office
3. If Renewal, a copy of your expired CCW permit or printed copy of the permit is required.
4. WV driver’s License with the correct address shown for the permit.
5. Cash, check, or credit card to pay for the permit.
