PROVO, Utah, Jan. 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Provo man is facing nearly a dozen charges after he allegedly sexually abused a 16-year-old girl and forced her to take drugs.
A probable cause statement from Utah County said David Bradley Huey, 51, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree felony rape, two counts of first-degree felony forcible sodomy, six counts of first-degree felony distribution of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone and two counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.
The probable cause statement said that on Wednesday, the 16-year-old girl reported to a friend out of state that a man identified as David Huey, a boyfriend of the victim’s mother, had made her use methamphetamine with him and he had raped her.
Officers located the victim and transported her to Utah Valley Hospital. A sexual assault exam was performed at the hospital and an initial urine drug screen tested positive for amphetamines.
An interview was then conducted with the victim at the Children’s Justice Center in Provo regarding the incident.
“V/1 (the victim) disclosed she went to David’s house in Provo Utah last Thursday (Jan. 17) to stay with him and work with him while she was suspended from school,” the statement said. “V/1 disclosed David offered her methamphetamine that night. The two of them ingested methamphetamine from a pipe that night.”
The victim said Huey had her use methamphetamine multiple times a day since that day from a pipe, and a bong. She also described how the suspect would empty pill capsules and insert methamphetamine in the capsules for her to ingest. Distribution in this case is in a drug free zone because the victim is 16.
“V/1 disclosed David would make her sleep in his bed each night that she stayed at his home and each night he made her wear less clothes to bed,” the statement said. “V/1 disclosed David said it was a rule of his bed she not wear clothes so she slept naked in his bed at least one of the nights.”
During that time, Huey sexually abused the victim multiple times.
“V/1 also described being impaired by the methamphetamine use and being scared of David during his sexual advances,” the statement said.
The mother of the victim confronted Huey on the phone when she was informed of the allegations, the statement said. On the phone David admitted to the victim’s mother he and the teen used methamphetamine together. When confronted about the sexual abuse by the mother, Huey “would only tell the mother he didn’t rape her,” the statement said.
A search warrant was obtained for Huey’s blood and urine, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Huey has been booked into Utah County Jail and is being held without bail.
